2. Protein.Figure out how not to grow old
Hello, dear ladies and gentlemen!I am very pleased to welcome you to the first lesson of the Body Transformation Course. The “Body Transformation Course” is a large three-month course that is designed to put in order our ideas about physiology, to put our bodies in order.Today we are going through our first useful part and of course we start with the protein component of our body.Friedrich Engels said: “Life is a way of existence of protein bodies, the essential point of which is the constant exchange of substances with the external nature surrounding them, and with the cessation of this metabolism, life itself ceases, which leads to the decomposition of the protein.”Therefore, when you and I compose our diet, when we compose the plates of our children, mothers, husbands, we must clearly understand what we put there, whether it will be useful, whether there is enough building material in this plate.Lots of questions.
Accordingly, I show you what you need to put on a plate to make up an ordinary, very simple biological membrane, i.e.not even a cage.We consist of a large number of cells, and each cell is a whole empire, an independent state, which is connected by numerous connections with other states. But today we are interested in one cell and its structure. If you look at what a cell consists of under an electron microscope, you will see an ordinary biological membrane. This is a double layer of lipids (this is our 4th lesson on lipids). The more clearly your biological membrane is created, the better the proteins feel in it - transmembrane proteins that act as a channel, everything that is needed enters the cell, everything that is not needed is thrown out of the cell. Thus, the constancy of the internal environment of the cell is maintained.Look, if I’m a caged girl living in a one-room apartment, and I want to have enough oxygen.Try to cut off my oxygen, so what? That's it, death. But I want to have electricity, to have food in the refrigerator, to have an optimal temperature, and not +40° C, at which I cannot survive. This is provided by transmembrane proteins, which allow some things to pass through and others not to pass through.
Proteins are the main building material for the body and are the basis of its cells and tissues.Proteins are different, everything related to functions concerns proteins.Fats are also a building material and a reserve of energy for the body. There are proteins that are only on the surface of biological membranes, they have antennae, and they perceive: “What is there outside? How's the weather outside?"and some impulse is transmitted inside so that the cell changes. And there are proteins that sit on the inner surface of the membrane: “What’s inside?”These are receptor proteins.“What can I do to help the cell? What is she running out of?”They send a signal to deliver what is missing. We, as people who feed ourselves and our families, must clearly understand what we do it from.
I would like to introduce you, dear ladies and gentlemen, to a transmembrane protein called the “sodium-potassium pump.”It is the most important protein in the human body.It turns out, what is life? This is when there are a lot of sodium ions outside the cell, and potassium ions inside.Sodium is outside, potassium is inside. This is called life.If something is wrong with this protein, then it’s a nightmare, it lets sodium into the cell.Sodium drags water along with it, and the cell simply falls apart. You have to understand that if the cell is happy, then everyone is happy.
